Tennis player Carlos Alcaraz sent the crowd into a frenzy with a match that stopped fans at the US Open on Wednesday.
In an attempt to earn a point in the singles quarterfinal, Alcaraz used an unusual method to return a difficult shot: behind.
Alcaraz, the No. 3 seed in the majors, was working in the second set when his opponent, the No. 11 seed Jannik Sinner, looked to take advantage of a point.
The 19-year-old had other plans for Sinner, however, and fired the shot after to the surprise of the crowd.
You can watch a clip of his Sinner shoot below.
Alcaraz finally pulled off a win against Sinner early Thursday morning and will advance to the men’s US Open semi-finals.
The move also pleased sports fans, with one calling for “AND1-ification” in sports.
