Chris Evans has Anthony Mackie’s back.
Friday, The Hollywood Reporter considered whether Evans’ Steve Rogers or Mackie’s Sam Wilson can donate a vibraum-reinforced American armor to the upcoming “Captain America 4” installment.
Evans took to Twitter on Saturday to clear the air for moviegoers who hope to see him return to the next film.
“Sam Wilson is Captain America,” he said, in response to a THR tweet, confirming Mackie’s role in the movie and at the same time confirming that he will not resurrect his 8 years as a respected actor.
After starring in last year’s Disney + series, “Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” Mackie Wilson’s character finally took over as the next Captain America after playing for Falcon for years.
Evans first appeared as Captain America in “Captain America: The First Avenger” in 2011, the fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Malcolm Spellman, author and lead author of Winter Soldier, is currently developing a script with Dalan Musson, a staff writer for the play.
While the cast is still in operation, Nigerian American filmmaker Julius Onah (“The Cloverfield Paradox”) is expected to direct “Captain America 4.”
No film release date has been announced yet.
Last month while announcing his new film “Lightyear,” Evans he told Yahoo News that Mackie is a very good man in the role of Captain America.
“There is no one better. I mean he ‘s doing real justice, “Evans told the store at the time. “I am proud of him. I can’t wait to see what they do in the future with it. But if there are tears [about the role]it is because of the wonderful memories I had. ”
