Today, Electronic Arts announced a new studio, Seattle-based Ridgeline Games, tasked with developing a narrative campaign that takes place in the Battlefield universe.
Led by Halo co-founder Marcus Lehto and staffed by industry veterans from around the world, the studio is “excited to tell stories and take players on epic adventures that only happen in the Battlefield environment.”
“It’s a great honor to have the opportunity to partner with DICE and Ripple Effect and lead the expansion of narrative, storytelling, and character development opportunities in the Battlefield series,” said Lehto, game director and head of Ridgeline Games.
“We continue to invest in the future of the franchise by bringing in new talent and ideas,” said Vince Zampella, founder of Respawn and head of the Battlefield franchise.
“With Marcus and his team at Ridgeline Games joining the global team we already have, Battlefield is in a strong position to succeed.”
Battlefield 2042 is the most recent entry in the series, and Season 2 started on August 30 with a new map, a new Expert, three new weapons, and two vehicles.
