Jennifer Lawrence shared that she didn’t know exactly what to expect when she entered the world of motherhood.
The “Don’t Look Up” actress – who became a mother for the first time in February when she welcomed a son with husband Cooke Maroney – revealed that she has concerns, including whether she can love her child like her cat.
In a recent interview no VogueLawrence opened up about the “scary” sides of parenting that are often not discussed.
“It’s scary to talk about motherhood. Only because it is very different for everyone,” he admitted.
“If I say, ‘It was amazing from the beginning,’ some people will think, ‘It wasn’t good for me at first,’ and I’ll feel bad,” Lawrence explained. “Fortunately, I have many girlfriends who have been faithful. Who said, ‘It’s scary. You may not be able to connect right away. You might not like it right away.’”
Getting out in the open, Lawrence shared a story about a conversation she had with one of her friends before her son Cy was born.
“I remember walking with one of my best friends, like nine months, and I said, ‘Everybody keeps saying I’m going to love my baby more than my cat. But that is not true. Maybe I’ll love him like my cat?’”
Despite not knowing what to expect, Lawrence instantly fell in love with Cy.
“The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over,” she said. Like, ‘Now it’s the first day of my life.’ I just stared. I was just in love.”
Since becoming a parent, the leading lady said, “her heart has reached a level I didn’t know.”
He continued, “I fell in love with all the kids everywhere. Newborn babies are so amazing. It’s these little survivors who are pink, swollen, and fragile. Now I love all children. Now I hear a baby crying in the restaurant and I’m like, ‘Awwww, preciousssss.’”
Lawrence and Maroney, who were present connected first in June 2018, they got engaged in February 2019 and tied the knot the following October.
